National Black Farmer Fund

  • The National Black Farmers Fund supports the work of Black Farmers across Canada by building a platform to uplift the voices of those whose work is under-recognized and under-represented. The goal of the NBFF is to provide monetary support for Black farmers who have made significant contributions to the movement for food sovereignty.

  • The NBFF is working towards shifting the conversation from Black food security to actionable steps moving toward Black Food Sovereignty by using the power of collective land access and economic development as a tool to build a food system rooted in community nourishment and ancestral wisdom.

  • Our National Funding Drive begins on August 31, 2022.

All donations to the drive will provide monetary support for Black farmers within our network who do not have access to generational wealth but contribute significantly to the landscape of food security and justice across Canada and beyond. Our goal is to propel their work forward and build a more robust and sustainable food system that centers Black farmers' needs.

In addition to running our National Funding Drive, we also host the Black Farmer Resource Network. The network acts as a hub for skill sharing and supports the economic and educational needs of farmers within our network and beyond.

the proverb 'one hand washes the other' expresses the idea of community building with a focus on community economics and shared resource building.
